News | The Joy Bus Receives $10,000 Thunderbird Charities Grant

I’ve shared my admiration for The Joy Bus a few times and it seems with each new update I get about the great work that Jennifer Caraway and her team are doing I fall more and more in love with their mission. It turns out that I am not the only one feeling the love. We just learned that they are the recipient of a $10,000 grant from Thunderbird Charities.

Need a refresher on what The Joy Bus does?

The Joy Bus Meal Delivery Program specifically answers the critical demands for communal support and proper subsistence after a cancer diagnosis. The Joy Bus organization strives to enrich the experiences of homebound cancer patients by offering enjoyable, wholesome food, but also individual attention, camaraderie, and guidance on the restorative influence of food. This program works to improve quality of life by eliminating homebound cancer patient malnutrition and supplying fundamental food education as well as an imperative source of social support. The Joy Bus program was established by Jennifer Caraway to provide healthy and nutritious meals to those in need.

How will The Joy Bus use the Thunderbird Charities Grant?

The $10,000 grant will allow The Joy Bus Meal Delivery Program to expand and serve a greater number of homebound cancer patients in Phoenix. The growing need in the Valley for this program is unfortunate, but this very special grant money will allow them to reach further than ever possible since their inception.

How can you help The Joy Bus with their mission?

The Joy Bus operates The Joy Bus Diner in Phoenix, Tuesday through Sunday from 7am until 2pm. The Diner offers hearty, cooked-to-order breakfast and lunch dishes at really reasonable prices. Every single cent that is earned at the Diner goes to support The Joy Bus organization.
