Jan D’Atri’s Bacon Candy and Bacon Crack Recipes (& giveaway)

Posted on: January 30th, 2017 by Taryn Jeffries 43 Comments

If you have lived in the Valley for any amount of time, you definitely know who Jan D’Atri is. She’s been a fixture on local television since the late 70’s and hasn’t slowed down since. She has amassed a number of awards from a place in the Scottsdale Culinary Hall of Fame, 3 Rocky Mountain Emmys, a National Gabriel Award, and International Film Festival Awards and so much more. Between her work in documentaries, restaurants and cookbooks, I really don’t know where she finds the time to breathe, let alone all of her wok on Beth and Friends on KEZ and her segments on Rosie on the House on KTAR and segments on Arizona Midday. I pretty much want to be her when I grow up, whenever that happens.

Jan D'Atri One Minute KitchenJan D’Atri has graciously allowed us to share her special One Minute Kitchen recipes here on PhoenixBites. The One Minute Kitchen episodes are complete, meaning that no step is left out. Jan tests and retests all the featured recipes to make sure that all the kinks are worked out. She does this to make sure that you actually want to make the recipes and are successful with them. Not only is she incredibly entertaining, but her recipes are delicious and easy enough that even I can make them. The first one that we are going to feature is her most recent, Bacon Candy and Bacon Crack because, well…bacon!

Check out the Bacon Candy and Bacon Crack Recipe Here!

As if these two recipes weren’t enough, Jan is just as excited as I am to be able to share her One Minute Kitchen recipes and videos that she has offered up 11 sets of her Spatuloons! What is a Spatuloon you ask? Spatuloons are made up of durable natural bamboo and have a ton of great properties like:

  • They won’t stain when used in red sauces or with berry juices
  • They won’t splinter with use
  • Perfect for lefties and righties alike
  • They won’t scrape or scratch the bottom of your pan
  • The tapered end make then perfect for getting the last bits of peanut butter or mayo out of jars

How can you get your own three piece set of these special spatuloons? Leave a comment about your favorite kitchen utensil, that’s it. Easy Peasy!

It would be hard to pick just one kitchen utensil, but just this morning I used my favorite potato masher. Its only about 2 inches wide with a comfortable grip wooden handle and it comes in handy for so many things – think mashing bananas for banana nut bread, eggs for egg salad, avocado for dips (leaving it just chunky enough), mashed potatoes for two, etc.
