Christmas in July at Organ Stop Pizza

All the current talk is about the weather. It’s hot, but then again we live in Arizona so, obviously, it is hot. What isn’t being talked about enough, however, are the thousands of disadvantaged and homeless individuals in our community that need our collective help throughout the year, instead of just during the holidays. Organ Stop Pizza is doing something about it with their Christmas in July promotion and they could use your help.

Between July 1st and July 31st, if you bring in at least two approved non-perishable food items you will receive 10% off of your entire kitchen ticket that evening while you enjoy the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ, delicious pizza, pasta and salad with your friends and family.

Christmas in July is an annual food drive in the summer that strived to help stock the United Food Bank‘s shelves. Summer is the hardest time of year for many individuals in Arizona. With kids out of school on summer break, this means that families are struggling with not having the school meal programs to assist in keeping their food costs down. Temperatures are rising, which means that is costs more to keep their homes cool and this added pressure can lead to families having to make really difficult decisions, like paying their electric bill or keeping food in the home. With the help of the community, Organ Stop Pizza hopes to continue to assist their neighbors who struggle with providing food for their families this summer.

The items donated will be delivered to senior citizens, children won’t have to go to bed hungry and you will help many parents get a little relief from the constant worries for their children. Organ Stop Pizza co-owner, Jack Barz said, “When you drop off donations for this food drive in July you will be able to step out of the triple digit temps into the spirit of the holidays. We will deck the Mighty Wurlitzer and walls with a Christmas feel. Jingle all the way to OSP in Mesa and help a worthy cause.”

Organ Stop Pizza will be matching all cash donations up to $5,000 from their customers. An added bonus is that they will be selling Lew Williams’ Christmas CD, “Holiday Pipes” for only $13.95. For each copy that is sold in during their Christmas in July promotion, $2 of the purchase price will be donated to United Food Bank.

• Canned Meat
• Canned Fruits and Vegetables
• While Grain, Low Sugar Cereals
• Soups, Stews and Chili
• Dried Beans
• Canned or Dried Milk
• Rice and Pasta

*Please do not bring anything in glass jars, baby food or anything that has been opened.
