Joe’s Midnight Run Heats Up Phoenix’s Dining Scene

Posted on: April 12th, 2016 by Press Release No Comments

Led by Executive Chef, Michael Goldsmith, Joe’s Midnight Run (6101 N. 7th St.| Phoenix| 480-459-4467) is firing up the grill – literally – today as it officially opens inside a stylishly revamped former drive-thru liquor store in the heart of Central Phoenix. Best described as a music-centric restaurant & lounge, Joe’s pairs a signature all-wood-fired menu with a worldly selection of craft beer, spirits & wine on tap. Carved inside a stylishly revamped mid-century modern space that was the longtime former home to Joe’s Drive-thru Liquor, Joe’s Midnight Run will start smoking and firing up food weekdays at 11am and 9:30am for weekend brunch, and always serves a full menu daily until 2am.

At Joe’s Midnight Run, Goldsmith has assembled a unique, all-wood-fired kitchen, including wood-burning grills and ovens, with no ranges or stovetops in sight (although the deep fryer is electric, “Mixing fire and hot oil seemed like a bad idea,” Goldsmith says). After firing up his kitchen, Goldsmith sat down to craft a globally-inspired menu, “to take guests on a trip around the world. But not fine-dining restaurants, more like authentic but casual eats, like if a friend from Brazil or Korea invited you over to a backyard dinner. Our Brazilian seafood dish is more of a light, fresh and flavorful ceviche that incorporates traditional Brazilian ingredients such as coconut milk, pineapple, and tomatoes. It’s as close as you can get to eating on a beach post-surfing with your toes in the sand,” Goldsmith says.

Additional favorites include the Korean Short Rib, a bone-in short rib, marinated overnight in a chili paste, grill-seared until all the sugar caramelizes and is served with fresh kimchee coleslaw (as compared to traditional fermented kimchee). Or try the decadent Cantina Poutine made with house-cut French fries topped with melty, creamy Spanish-style Mahon cheese, plus a spicy sausage gravy house-made with Phoenix’s own, Schreiner’s chorizo. “We might need to serve it with a pillow on the side,” Goldsmith says. And speaking of deliciously decadent, Joe’s Notorious Burger, inspired by the late rapper, Notorious B.I.G., boasts a half-pound beef patty topped with shredded pork that’s been braised in red wine and chili and then topped with crunchy pork rinds.

Joe’s Midnight Run also touts the Valley’s best music mix, including classic 80s and 90s cuts ranging from booming hip hop to rowdy rock and roll. Combine that with Joe’s expansive bar menu highlighted by to-go 40 ounce beer growlers, and you can see why Joe’s tagline is “80s, 90s, and 40s.”

Keep up with all the latest and greatest going on at Joe’s Midnight Run by following them on social media (www.facebook.com/JoesMidnightRun, Twitter & Instagram @JoesMidnightRun). Plus, be sure to tag your #Jomies that Joe’s is back and serving up the Valley’s most righteous blend of eclectic eats, beats, brews, and vibes. Open Mon. – Fri. (11 am to 2 am) & Sat. – Sun. (9:30 am – 2 am), Joe’s Midnight Run is located at 6101 N. 7th St. in Phoenix, 85014. For more information call 480-459-4467 or visit www.joesmidnightrun.com.
