While gingerbread houses may be a classic holiday tradition, the folks over at Someburros have taken it to the next level. Churro Casitas are where its at.

Why create something that you can pick up at any local drugstore, supermarket or big box store? Get creative and go pick up a Churro Casita kit and create a new Southwestern holiday tradition! Not everyone loves gingerbread cookies, but you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t enjoy a sugary churro.

For just $13.50 you can pick up a Churro Casita kit at any one of the six Valley Someburros locations. The kits come with 15 pre-packaged churros, a set of do-it-yourself instructions and a recipe straight from Someburros’ own Vasquez family with step-by-step instructions on how to make the perfect icing, ensuring that your casita will remain intact. To sweeten the deal, Someburros will donate $1 from each kit sold to Toys for Tots.

Once you have created your Churro Casita you are encouraged to upload a photo onto the Someburros Facebook page using the hashtag #ChurroCasita for a chance to win the best prize ever: free burros for a year!

“We think of it as a new take on a holiday tradition, but with a Someburros twist,” said Owner Tim Vasquez. “We’ll all be making them at home with our families, and we hope our guests will do the same. And if we can put some special gifts under the tree for kids at the same time? That’s more than icing on the cake.”

I can only speak from experience and advise you that you might want to pick up more than one kit. If you’re like me, you might have a hard time incorporating all of those churros into your architectural design if you don’t have a few as back-up to snack on!
