Get out of town: 4th of July at Salt Rock in Sedona

Posted on: June 28th, 2015 by Taryn Jeffries 5 Comments

The 4th of July celebrates our country’s independence, so why not celebrate your personal independence from the oppressive heat here in the Valley .

Amara Resort and Spa CourtyardYou’ve got a long weekend coming up, so why not head up North to experience lower temps and a slower pace? Kimpton’s Amara Resort and Spa is just a short jaunt away from Sedona’s uptown shopping district, but far enough away to lose yourself a little. The resort is nestled on the banks of the creek making you feel worlds away. The resort’s intimate, boutique resort combines modern design with Arizona’s comfortable, laid-back lifestyle, which makes it the perfect destination for your 4th of July getaway.

What else can you expect from Amara, aside from the majestic and peaceful surroundings? You and your family and friends can enjoy lawn games (think cornhole, bocce ball and more) throughout the courtyard and did I mention the pig roast?

Chef Massimo De FrancescaThe resort’s signature restaurant, Salt Rock, is led by Executive Chef Massimo De Francesca. If that name sounds familiar, it should, as he also heads up Taggia here in Scottsdale at Kimpton’s Fire Sky Resort. The delightfully Italian Chef has created an All-American specialty menu that will feature a Southwest inspired Porchetta roast on Saturday, July 4th to be enjoyed outdoors in the inviting courtyard that overlooks the breath-taking Cleopatra Red Rock formation and the luscious foliage situated along Oak Creek.

This 4th of July at Salt Rock’s menu will be available from noon until 6pm on Saturday and will include:

  • Southwest Inspired Porchetta
  • Pineapple barbeque glazed chicken
  • Grilled corn on the cob with chipotle aioli and queso fresco
  • Chilled watermelon and much more

Amara Resort and Spa_Salt Rock Dining RoomThe dinner will run you $40 per person (not including tax or gratuity), with children 12 and under only $20. This cost also includes no-alcoholic beverages. A communal table will display the items from the menu along with the Porchetta carving station.

In addition to the special dinner and events at Amara, you can also check out the 4th of July concert and Laser Light Show at the Performing Arts center along with the 15th Annual Independence Fireworks Extravaganza in nearby Cottonwood.

Room rates at Amara are starting at $339 with a 2 night minimum.

I almost wish that I was going to be staying in state for the holiday weekend because I would certainly pack up the family and head up North.
