Dining Guide | 5 of the Best Brunch Spots in Scottsdale

Posted on: April 5th, 2015 by Taryn Jeffries No Comments

After a long week, and perhaps a little revelry to celebrate the end of the work week, be kind to yourself; sleep in. Roll out of bed as late as you can get away with, make yourself presentable and venture out into the world for the best meal invented; Brunch.

Brunch first became popular in the US in the 1930’s to replace the early Sunday Supper and has quickly evolved into something that friends and family look forward to all week. Brunch is relaxed, cheerful and incredibly social. So gather your friends together and pick any one of these great brunch spots in Scottsdale locations.

Chef Kevin Binkley is changing the landscape of dining in the Valley, with a total of four restaurants…for now. Bink’s Scottsdale focuses on the bounty of the area when creating contemporary dishes that are sophisticated and artistic. While the Brunch menu at Bink’s may not be extensive, the items offered are masterfully crafted and will be as much a work of art on a plate as they are an explosion of flavor. One dish not to miss is their Eggs Benedict. I realize a Benedict is atypical brunch fodder, but when you incorporate Applewood smoked pork belly you find a dish that has been infused with love and peppered with happiness. You’ll want to have this dish for every meal. Every single one.
Brunch is available on Sundays from 10am to 2:30pm

The House Brasserie
6936 E. Main St.| Scottsdale| 480.634.1600
Old Town Scottsdale is rife with art and creativity, so it makes sense that the two meet on every plate at The House Brasserie. The House is, well, just that; a house re-envisioned, hearkening back to a simpler time when everyone wasn’t always in such a hurry. Pick a comfortable spot on the garden-like patio and enjoy the quiet and peace that the environment evokes. Any brunch spot can bring you a Bloody Mary and an omelet station, but brunch has evolved and the dishes on The House Brasserie’s Brunch menu are definitely a step up from that long line of chafing dishes. Sure, they have scrambled eggs on the menu, but these are not your mom’s scrambled eggs (no offense to your mom). These eggs join together mascarpone, ricotta, prosciutto, asparagus, black pepper and Parmesan in one delightful dish that will forever change the way you look at eggs. Looking for a little sweetness? Don’t miss out on the Dutch Pancake a delightfully light cake that provides a vehicle to meld together the complex flavors of Pink Lady Apples, Wilcox Cider, maple, lemon and huckleberry crème Fraiche. There are also a wide variety of salads and sandwiches to choose from.
Bruch is served from 10am to 3pm on Saturday and Sundays.

Lon’s at the Hermosa Inn
5532 N. Palo Cristi Road| Paradise Valley| 602.955.7878
5 of the Best Brunch Spots in Scottsdale_Lons at the Hermosa Inn_Crab Cake BenedictLon’s at the Hermosa Inn is known as almost a love story to the history of Arizona. Originally the home of famed artist Alonzo “Lon” Megargee who kept building on the property where it then evolved from his home, art studio and then a working ranch open to guests from around the world. The property in its present form still features Lon’s art peppered through the resort as a tribute to the man that started it all. While certain aspects of the resort have changed to match the times, one thing that remains pure is the focus on the southwest and that plays well into the flavors in the dishes that Chef Ducas creates at Lon’s. The one-acre organic garden certainly helps to ensure that all of the dishes include the freshest of ingredients. Dishes like their Crab Cake Benedict that surpasses any other Benedict you’ve ever had. To start, the crab cakes appear to be free of any kind of filler, allowing all of that sweet crab flavor to come though. The tomato jam, fresh micro cilantro salad, and saffron citrus aioli create a  contrast of sweet tart and crisp flavors and when you break into that airy poached egg allowing the velvety yolk to come through, well there’s no better dish to start the day with. Plus, they have monkey bread.
Brunch is available from 10am to 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The Herb Box
7134 E. Stetson Drive or 20707 N. Pima Road| Scottsdale| 480.289.6160 or 480.289.6180

The Kale Pakora is a delightful little fried pocket comprised of kale, sweet onion, and corn and is served with a serrano glaze and vegan yellow pepper aioli. It’s been said a few places that she might know a thing or two about great food and presentation. Another great brunch option is the Baby Kale, Brie & Green Apple Omelet. You know that Brie and apple make a perfect pair, but who knew that adding in some healthy kale, coffee-molasses glazed bacon and a side of wheat toast? The result is a protein and vitamin packed breakfast that will help get you through the last of those weekend chores you need to get to.
Brunch is available from 8am to 3pm on Sundays.

Virtu Honest Craft
3701 N. Marshall Way| Scottsdale| 480.946.3477
Virtu Honest Craft is a deceptive little spot. Tucked away from all of the noise and hubbub that can sometimes be synonymous with Old Town Scottsdale, you’ll quickly feel like you’re miles away. The restaurant is the ground floor of the Bespoke Inn, a quaint hotel that is big on charm. Chef Gio Osso and Virtu have received a lot of notoriety from a variety of nationwide publications stating what we already knew, that this is a cant’s miss spot when in Scottsdale. There are no gimmicks or bells and whistles here and aren’t needed. The food stands on its own and much like a photo is worth a thousand words. The presentation of the dishes is sometimes breath-taking. The Brunch Menu here changes with the availability of fresh ingredients, but you’ll always find crepes on the menu. The Classic Crepe created with ham and gruyere is in perfect proportion to its huge flavor. The slight saltiness of the ham combined with the creamy cheese provides great mouthfeel. The burrata with spicy poached eggs is a great way to wake up your taste buds with the kick of the eggs, the creaminess of the burrata in contrast with the texture of the peperonata and potato hash.
Brunch here is available daily from 10am to 2pm.
