Not-so-secret 20s themed speakeasy opens at the Biltmore
Lovers of all things vintage and retro will have a new, very “exclusive” hang-out now that the Arizona Biltmore has opened a 20s-themed speakeasy. The resort has recreated its legendary original “Mystery Room,” a secret speakeasy that was hidden in the resort’s main building.
The lively era of the 20s will be brought back to life with music and cocktails in a signature setting of the ‘20s defined by the architectural style of Frank Lloyd Wright with a restored gold-leaf ceiling and walls framed by historic photos. Expect a bartender dressed to the nines in period attire, music of the era from Charleston dance hits to jazz riffs, and historic cocktails from the Prohibition years (think bourbon, rye and gin based sips, rum punches and classic cocktails).
The Mystery Room will be open on Sunday evenings from 8-11pm. Admission is free, but you’ll need a password! To obtain the password (which will change weekly), search #speakeasy on Twitter – the resort will tweet a clue every week from its Twitter page, @ArizonaBiltmore.
