Salted Caramel Brownie Brittle? Yes, please.

Posted on: July 12th, 2013 by Amy Martin No Comments

If you’re like me, then I had you at ‘salted caramel’ and you don’t need any more persuasion to head out to buy this new favorite snack. In fact, maybe you’ve already got your keys in hand… when it comes to brownie brittle, there is little patience for waiting! Give me salted-caramel-anything and it’s already my new favorite thing. And Sheila G’s Salted Caramel Brownie Brittle is no exception.

I make brownies often in my house–it’s usually my go-to when I’m craving something chocolate-y and cake always takes a backseat to brownies, in my opinion. So naturally, add salted caramel to one of my favorite chocolate treats and it’s a match made in dessert heaven. But, my favorite part of a big ole pan of brownies is the corner pieces. There’s something about those crunchy corner pieces that are so much more special than all the rest. That’s exactly what Sheila G’s Brownie Brittle is… a bag full of corner pieces!

When I first heard of the product, I wondered why I hadn’t thought of the idea first. Who doesn’t love the crispy edges? Sheila G. Mains, founder of The Original Brownie Brittle company baked her way into the food business that all started with a beloved family recipe for fudge brownies. Working in her bakery, she would sometimes gather the brittle batter off the sides of the sheet pans as the brownies were cooling and that’s when the idea struck.

These thin, crispy ‘brittle bites’ are highly addictive and you won’t be able to stop at just a handful. Luckily, it’s just 120 calories per ounce (though, trust me, you’ll won’t be able to stop at just an ounce) and was named a “hot snack” by Weight Watchers.

The brittle is offered in four different variations, though there were a couple of clear standouts to me.

musttryflavors

  • My beloved Salted Caramel–a delicious combination of sweet and salty, I loved getting those tiny bits of buttery, salted caramel in every bite.
  • Toffee Crunch–maybe it’s a texture thing, but those chunks of toffee sprinkled throughout the brownie brittle batter were over-the-top good!

I loved snacking on the brittle right out of the bag, but it’s ridiculously good with a toasted marshmallow sandwiched between two salted caramel brittle pieces. Go get a bag and try it… NOW!

Find Brownie Brittle on the shelves at AJ’s or shop online and send to a friend: browniebrittle.com.
