A recipe for disaster?

Posted on: April 9th, 2013 by Taryn Jeffries No Comments

While we are all aware that Mark Tarbell, Beau MacMillan and Barbara Fenzl are superstars in the kitchen, have you ever given a thought to what they would be like on the stage? Wonder no more! Childsplay’s upcoming Recipe for Disaster Gala on Saturday, April 13th will pull these big names from the kitchen and feature them on the centerstage!

The Recipe for Disaster Gala is Childsplay’s biggest fundraising event of the season and is themed around the original play, a slapstick comedy that takes place in a cooking school. It originates in the kitchen as two master chef’s arguing makes a mess of an incredibly important exam for a struggling young apprentice. Culinary chaos ensues, as one chef struggles to top another and the apprentice tries desperately to convince them to put down their spatulas and work together. This hilarious new play mixes physical comedy and music tossed with a dash of improvisation, teaching civility in a most delicious way.

Your ticket to the event will get you admittance to a whimsical cocktail hour with live music and a silent auction overflowing with items focused on fine dining, food and cooking experiences. A VIP performance of the show will follow before guests sit down for dinner with a menu that will mimic the foods featured within the show. The celebrity chefs will finish off the evening with hilarious stories of their own kitchen, cooking and career experiences.

The event will be held at Tempe Center for the Arts from 6pm to 10pm. Individual tickets are $250 and Corporate Sponsorships start at $3000.
