Get HandsOn!

Posted on: October 16th, 2012 by Taryn Jeffries 1 Comment

Ever heard of HandsOn Greater Phoenix? Have you ever sat thinking that you would really like to do something to help your community? That’s what HandsOn is all about. They strive to empower people to become engaged, take action and create positive change in their communities.
Just imagine how amazing it would be to come home everyday knowing that you and your neighbors were doing all you could to make your community be the absolute best it could be for you, your children and all who came through. I would love to live in a place like that – and it’s all within our power to create it.

HandsOn Greater Phoenix offers a calendar of 60 diverse, high-impact, one-time community service projects each month. They also have committed opportunities such as Your Experience Counts, AmeriCorps VISTA, HandsOn Skills and the Disaster Response Corps. You can become a Project Leader or get your company involved through their Business Services program. Or, participate in one of the large-scale special days of service like the Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration (January), Serve A Thon for Schools (April), the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance (September) and A Day for Downtown (November).

On October 23rd, HandsOn will be hosting a “Be the Difference” (free) breakfast so that you can get more in depth information about all of the great activities they coordinate as well as how we can all get involved. At the end of the breakfast and presentation, you will be asked to consider making a donation. These donations will go towards the supplies and resources needed to support their efforts and projects. There is no minimum or maximum donation requested, just what you feel inspired to give. There will also be people on hand to answer any question you might have regarding volunteering.

You can find more information about HandsOn by visiting them on Facebook or Twitter.
