Gourmet marshmallows from 240sweet

Posted on: August 1st, 2012 by Taryn Jeffries 1 Comment

We are very excited to announce a giveaway with 240sweet, an artisan gourmet marshmallow company based in Columbus, Indiana. One of our readers will win a $15 gift certificate to use on their website for marshmallow-y goodness. We recently had the opportunity to test out the marshmallows ourselves. Having grown up in the Midwest, I have tried my hand at a s’more, thus creating a life-long affair with the sweet, fluffy goodness of marshmallows. A little over than a year ago, I had my first taste of a handmade marshmallow and I was amazed and instantly sold. So, imagine my delight when I came across 240sweet, an artisan gourmet marshmallow company.

What a fool I was to have had my obsession with those silly shelf-stable bagged puffs. These tiny little treasures are lovingly handcrafted in small batches by Alexa Lemley and Samantha Aulick using the finest local, all natural and organic ingredients. I tried three of their flavors; Super Vanilla Bean, Salty Caramel Twist and State Fair Elephant Ear.

There are a few ways that you can receive your marshmallows:

  • A “Treat Bag” | Treat Bag packs contain three giant puffs that average 1.75 x 1.75 inches. They come packed three to a clear plastic bag. Each bag is adorned with a made-in-the-USA ribbon and label.
  • “Jumbo” Packs |Jumbo packs contain nine giant puffs that average 1.75 x 1.75 inches. They come packed in a clear plastic bag.
  • “Petite Puffs” | Petite Puff packs contain eight ounces of pop-able puffs that average 1 x 1 inches. They come packed in a clear plastic bag.

Since I received my flavor selections in the Treat Bag, I cut one marshmallow in half to split between my kids and then my husband and I each had one (with the exception of one). I wanted to get everyone’s opinion on these sweet squares. The Super Vanilla Bean was a perfect bite. Simple and sweet, but with intense vanilla flavor. I could imagine how amazing this would be in a s’more or how divine it would be in a cup of hot cocoa. Talk about decadence!

I was so excited to receive the State Fair Elephant Ear.  I adored going to the fair back in Illinois pretty much only for the Elephant Ears! This marshmallow did not disappoint. It took me right back to the fair to the point that I could almost hear the loud 80s metal music on the Tilt-a-Whirl!

I tasted the Salty Caramel Twist before I cut one up for the kids and I am so glad I did. This is the only one that I didn’t share…with anyone. I let my husband have a bite…but only a bite! This was so incredibly delicious – a perfect bite and blend of salty and sweet. This puff starts with a Very Vanilla Bean Puff that is adorned with ribbons of handmade caramel and Maldon sea salt. I could eat one of these after dinner for the rest of my life.

240sweet has so many flavors to choose from that there is certainly something for everyone, but if you are like me and have a heck of a time making those tough decisions you can always check out the Marshmallow of the Month Flavors. You’ll find the expected Vanilla, Chocolate and Peppermint and the very unexpected Turkey with Sage Dressing (I’m not kidding), Avocado & Lime, and a ‘Mystery Flavor’.

You can order your own 240sweet marshmallows on their website at 240sweet.com.
