Kitchen tools from KitchenIQ

THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED. CONGRATS TO OUR WINNER, LAURA R.!

We are very excited to announce a new giveaway with KitchenIQ, a company known for supplying some of the leading knife sharpening products and other kitchen tools. In addition to their manual and electric knife sharpeners, KitchenIQ creates innovative kitchen tools for home cooks and cooking enthusiasts and offers them at affordable prices. New for 2012, KitchenIQ released new V-etched products including zesters, graters and spice graters.

One of our readers will win two KitchenIQ V-etched products: the V-etched Better Zester and V-etched Spice Grater. We recently had the opportunity to test the products ourselves:

V-etched Better Zester

The ergonomically-designed V-etched Better Zester immediately convinced me that my former favorite name-brand zester would be exiting my kitchen soon. Why? KitchenIQ’s zester is… well… better (pun intended). Its easy-to-grip handle won’t slip out of your hand and is comfortable to gasp. The blade is made up of more than 300 teeny V-shaped teeth and is covered with a food-approved nonstick coating so the tool will glide easier over the soft skin of citrus fruits and only zests the outer, flavorful layer of the skin – not the bitter pith. I found the zester to be sharper than my resident zester at home, and it got the job done faster and with less effort on my part. On the flip side, you’ll find a “fresh zest” storage container underneath the blades with a teeny ‘squeegee’. The container gathers your fresh zest as it is expelled from the blades and the squeegee helps remove the moist zest from the back of the blade so you won’t have to use your fingers. The zest container is even etched with tablespoon measurements so you can zest exactly the amount you need and waste less. Another ‘extra’ that I love is that the zester comes with a reusable protective cover that slips over the blades when it is not being used. A great way to keep those sharp blades away from teeny hands that may rummage your kitchen drawers.

The zester is available in two colors: Zesty Lime Green (quite fitting!) and Stealth Charcoal Gray, and the product retails for around $14.99.

The V-etched Spice Grater is designed similarly to the Better Zester with over 300 tiny V-shaped teeth working to grate even the hardest spices. The spice grater is ideal for adding a pop of flavor to your coffee, teas, and desserts. Try adding a fresh grating of cinnamon and nutmeg to your morning coffee – mmm! Like the zester, the grater also comes with a reusable protective cover.
