Nowadays, between busy schedules, work, children and crossing everything off your to-do list before daylight ends, not everyone has time to make a batch of homemade pasta sauce. We are very excited to announce a giveaway with Barilla, makers of tomato-based, all natural sauces. One of our readers will win four jars of Barilla’s sauces. We recently tried a few different varieties:
The traditional Marinara is versatile, and can be used for spaghetti, lasagna, manicotti and many more family-friendly dishes. Made with fresh tomatoes, onions and a blend of spices including basil, oregano and garlic, Barilla’s marinara holds a nice, balanced sweetness.
The Basilico was our favorite of the bunch – a fragrant Tomato & Basil Sauce. Sweet basil is slowly cooked with chunks of tomatoes, olive oil, carrots and onions. A pleasant balance of sweet and savory.
The Toscana, a Tuscan herb sauce, is made with the sofrito technique of sautéing diced vegetables including tomatoes, carrots and celery with aromatics including Tuscan herbs, Oregano, Marjoram and a touch of black pepper with a garlic-infused oil.
