Guide: Weekend Bites May 27th-29th

Planning ahead for your weekend out? We’ve highlighted some of our favorite weekend events to make it a little easier (and tastier!).

Here’s our Weekend Guide for May 27th-May 29th

Friday, May 27th

  • 6:30pm – Paper Snowmen Perform at the Montelucia Resort Summer Concert Series – FREE

Get ready to dance to your favorite songs when the Valley’s most popular cover bands take the stage and perform live in Cortijo Plaza at the Montelucia Resort. The concert series will occur every Friday night from May 20th to July 8th in Cortijo Plaza at 6:30pm. This Friday, Paper Snowmen will perform. This event is complimentary.

  • 6:30pm-9:30pm – Gabriel Bertaccini Serves Mystery 4-Course Dinner at Cycle – $34.99

Local chef and culinary writer Gabriel Bertaccini debuts his rustic Italian cuisine at Cycle for one weekend only! He describes his menu as “pristine ingredients, simple execution and great passion.” A mystery 4-course, prix fixe menu: Keeping diners on their toes, Chef Gabe will not reveal his menu until the day of the actual dinner! He’ll prepare a new menu for each night! Many seatings are already sold out, so make your reservation quickly! Visit cyclephoenix.com for more info.

Saturday, May 28th

  • Noon-10pm – Rita’s Ice-Custard-Happiness Grand Opening- FREE Italian ice

Free regular-size Italian ice is served all day to celebrate the opening of this West Valley frozen dessert shop located in Glendale. Be among the first 100 patrons and get free ice cream for one year. Family activities will be featured throughout the day. For more information, visit ritasfranchises.com.

  • 6:30pm-9:30pm – Gabriel Bertaccini Serves Mystery 4-Course Dinner at Cycle – $34.99

  • 8pm – Hollywood & Wine Festival Kickoff with Randy Newman – $25-$60

Head out to the Arizona Biltmore to see the Academy Award-winning singer-songwriter perform in the Grand Ballroom. Doors open at 7 each night, the show begins at 8pm. A cash bar and concessions are available. Newman’s concert kicks off a series of events that continue through Labor Day weekend and include concerts, theater performances, wine tastings and presentations from Hollywood professionals. Sunday, May 29th

  • All Day – 7th Annual Nicky’s Week Fundraiser at RA Sushi

RA Sushi will host its seventh annual “Nicky’s Week” fundraiser Sunday, May 29 through Saturday, June 4 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, the nation’s top children’s cancer research center. The Scottsdale-based restaurant and bar will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of a variety of menu items and beverages to St. Jude to help support the hospital’s lifesaving mission. The special Nicky’s Week menu includes: Edamame, Tootsy Maki, Shrimp Nigiri, Pork Gyoza, Tuna Tataki, Chicken Yakitori and select beverages. All 25 RA Sushi locations in Arizona will participate in the fundraiser.

  • 5:30pm – Farm-to-Table Dinner at Café Bink – $55

Sunday, Café Bink hosts a 4-course farm to table dinner with Duncan Farms. Seats are only $55 (or add wine pairings for an additional $25) and includes the dinner and passed hors d’œuvres at the pre-dinner reception. For reservations, contact Café Bink: cafebink.com.

  • 7:30pm – “Sunset Cinema” at the InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa – FREE

Montelucia’s new “Sunset Cinema” continues this Sunday – a free outdoor movie showing featuring films set in Europe and Morocco. Sunday’s showing will be Much Ado About Nothing. Movies begin at 7:30pm and seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Picnic baskets and other tasty treats are available for purchase. For more information, visit montelucia.com.
