Schlotzsky’s redesigns a Phoenix location with the new Lotz Better concept in mind

Posted on: July 28th, 2010 by Amy Martin No Comments

Schlotzsky’s, home of The Original® round toasted sandwich, has opened a newly designed restaurant in Phoenix with the Lotz Better rebranding efforts in mind. The new restaurant is located at 1-17 and Dunlap and features the Lotz Better concept.

The Lotz Better concept took this quick-service restaurant to a new level. When you visit the I-17 and Dunlap location, you’ll see how. The restaurant décor is hip and trendy, a far stretch from what most people would usually think of when hearing the Schlotzsky’s name. To play homage to the round toasted sandwiches, all the décor has a “round spin”. Red and green round circles adorn across the walls, modern round chairs sit at each table, and even the light fixtures are round! Schlotzsky’s now appeals to a younger, more hip crowd now with this modern-retro atmosphere.

This location is the first in Arizona to have been redesigned with the Lotz Better concept. Eventually, all other locations will be redesigned as well. Besides the new look, this location is projected to add Cinnabon to its offerings in September. Also, for a more personal touch, the Schlotzsky’s crew now hand delivers your order to your tableNow, you can enjoy a quick service restaurant with affordable prices, but still have table service!

To keep up with the upbeat, energetic atmosphere, the music playing will not disappoint. On a recent visit, “Baby Love” by the Supremes was heard in the background making this a perfect spot for lunch with good food, good music and free Wi-fi.

As far as the menu goes, your old favorites are still available. The Original®, a sandwich consisting of lean smoked ham, Genoa and cotto salamis and melted cheddar, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese layered with black olives, red onion, lettuce, tomato, mustard and the signature dressing on toasted Sourdough bread, is by far the most popular sandwich. Also favorites are the Smoked Turkey Breast Sandwich and Turkey Bacon Club. Gourmet pizzas are still available as well as salads and wraps. Ed Messina, local owner of this Schlotzsky’s location, says his favorite sandwich is the Turkey Original-Style sandwich and remarks, “There is something about turkey and salami together. It’s my favorite sandwich.” Schlotzsky’s bakes all buns fresh each day. To complement your sandwich, a bottle of Louisiana hot sauce sits at every table.

Visit the new location at 9016 North Black Canyon Freeway in Phoenix and get a look at the new décor yourself.
