Happy Hour Beat | Prime Happy Hour Experience at Ocean Prime

I love happy hour with high-quality food, a wide selection of beverages and attentive service in a sophisticated atmosphere. It’s an added bonus when happy hour is extended to the weekends.

Living in North Phoenix, I regularly enjoy many happy hour options at City North located off 56^th Street and the 101, including Ocean Prime, Kona Grill, Modern Margarita, Mellow Mushroom, La Bocca and Blue Martini. I was extremely pleased to discover that many of these restaurants offer happy hour on Saturday.

Ocean Prime is one of my favorite happy hour spots at City North any day of the week. The upscale seafood restaurant chain offers happy hour in the lounge Monday through Saturday from 5-7pm. Patrons can enjoy happy hour at the bar, at tables in the lounge or on the patio. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, Ocean Prime has live music which adds to the relaxing atmosphere. With the upscale setting and high-end menu comes a more mature crowd.

Ocean Prime’s happy hour menu includes several fresh sushi options.

At first glance the happy hour menu looks expensive but all food and wine are half price. Ocean Prime’s happy hour food selections include small plates and sushi. Small plates offered during happy hour include bruschetta, chicken satay, king crab dip and blackened mahi tacos. Most recently I enjoyed three teriyaki lamb lollipops served with a spicy slaw for $8.50, two Prime sirloin sliders served with spicy chips for $7 and the dynamite roll with tempura shrimp and spicy mayo for $9. Other sushi options, which range in price from $7-$10, include a lobster roll, tuna roll and the Prime roll with tempura shrimp and cream cheese topped with beef carpaccio.

Happy hour small plates include lamb chops and sliders.

Three red wines and three white wines to accommodate a variety of tastes are available on the happy hour menu for $5 a glass. There are six cocktails available for $8 each during happy hour made with top-shelf liquor and fresh ingredients, including a house-made pineapple-infused vodka martini, fruity rum punch, a refreshing cucumber gimlet, and the sparkling Berries and Bubbles made with vodka, blackberries and champagne served with dry ice for a smoky effect.

From the service and atmosphere to the diverse food and beverage selections, happy hour at Ocean Prime feels like a luxurious experience without the high-end cost. I know I’ll be doing happy hour there again soon, maybe Tuesday, maybe Friday, maybe Saturday.
