Assuming that you’ve lived in the Valley for any measure of time, you’re acquainted with Tracy Dempsey. She’s become synonymous with brilliant and delicious desserts that have been highlighted in some of your favorite local restaurants to her standalone bakeshop, Tracy Dempsey Originals.

Just in time for my birthday, TDO is growing once again with the introduction of ODV Wines. This new addition will include an assortment of all your classic favorites as well as some new treats. You’ll also be delighted with the addition of boutique wines that will pair perfectly with their confections.

ODV Wines will open to the public on August 19th, a fitting day for all things incredible, immediately next door to TDO Bake Shop. The name is a nod to the French phrase, “eau de vie”, which translates to water of life, and the thought of a wine shop connected to a bakery is giving us life! You’ll be tempted with an array of rare, yet economical, small lot wines from Arizona and vineyards throughout the globe. You’ll come across a comprehensive selection of boutique wines, with an emphasis on dessert-friendly roses and sparkling wines, but you’ll also be able to find traditional whites and reds. The inventory will consist of 1/3 sparkling and dessert wines, 1/3 amazing Arizona wines with the final 1/3 being more unique small lot wines from all over.

“Alongside my passion for making the finest from-scratch desserts, Chuck and I are equally obsessed with great wines made by true artisan winemakers. We’ve spent as much time as possible exploring great wine growing regions across the state and in Northern California, and now we want to bring these amazing small lot wines into our space in Tempe and make them available to the general public.”

“We love discovering small production wines that are made in such small quantities that have more likely enjoyed the full attention of an artisan winemaker,” Chuck Dempsey says. “These are wines that you will rarely find at a big retailer, and that Tracy and I have personally fallen in love with and want to share with our friends and family.”

“To us, a wine of authenticity, like a well-composed dessert, is one of life’s great joys,” Tracy Dempsey says. “So we can’t wait to share these amazing unique wines with the rest of the Valley.”

What once was home to a community market is now the perfect spot for bottle after bottle of specialty wines. The boutique will initially operate Wednesday through Saturday, from 10am until 3pm, although it is anticipated that there will be extended hours in the fall. While ODV Wines is not a wine bar, you will be able to sample some of their libations.

The fall will also bring in the addition of craft beers, dessert friendly stouts and porters and some quality cocktail components selected expressly to supplement some of your favorite spirits. They also aim to have some unique sampling events like champagne and wedding cake, dessert and wines, as well as some informational wine seminars.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my birthday than heading to the grand opening of ODV Wines. Dessert and bubbles? What more could I ask for?! Hope to see you there; Saturday, August 19th from 3pm until 5pm.
