KitchenAid 5-Speed Hand Blender

Posted on: January 3rd, 2013 by Amy Martin 223 Comments

If Santa didn’t bring you everything you wanted for Christmas, there’s still time to get one more gift for your kitchen! We’re excited to announce a giveaway with KitchenAid for their 5-Speed Hand Blender, a do-it-all appliance that comes incredibly handy in the kitchen and takes the place of multiple, bulky machines all while saving space.

One of our readers will win one for their own kitchen!

With five capabilities, the hand blender can tackle almost any task that you would typically need a larger appliance for.

What can you accomplish with the hand blender? Take a look:

  • Whip eggs whites for meringues, custards and batters, or quickly beat eggs or dessert mixes.
  • Emulsify homemade mayonnaise, hollandaise and Bearnaise sauces and make your own healthy vinaigrette.
  • Aerate sweet and savory mousse.
  • Chop up a batch of fresh veggies or make your own personal batch of salsa or guacamole. Chop fresh Parm to grate over pasta or grind up graham crackers for pie crusts.
  • Blend, Crush and Puree smoothies, soups, sauces and homemade baby food.
  • Shred cooked meats.
  • Froth and Mix frappes, cappuccinos, cake batter and pancake/waffle batter.

KitchenAid 5-Speed Hand Blender

I had the opportunity to test the blender and loved it most for gently pureeing soups and shredding meat. Such a huge time saver shredding large portions of hot, just-cooked meat (and this way, my fingers don’t get burned!) and pureeing soups right in the pot saved time and prevented extra dishes. Using the 2.5 cup chopper attachment was also incredibly convenient for making fresh bread crumbs from stale bread and quickly chopping herbs. With different speeds, you can chop anything from soft foods like hard-boiled eggs and tomatoes to harder ingredients like meats, firm cheeses and nuts.

2.5 cup chopper attachment easily minces a quick, cucumber relish.

The whisk attachment whipped up fresh-whipped cream in a breeze.

The attachments are easy to remove and very easy to clean. The hand blender comes with a special case that holds the appliance and attachments so they aren’t roaming loose around your kitchen drawers. The case can be easily stored in a cupboard or pantry cabinet… wherever you have room. You’ll also get a 1-liter pitcher too!
