Taggia at FireSky Resort & Spa Offers Special Menu for EarthCare Week

Posted on: April 12th, 2011 by Amy Martin No Comments

In honor of Earth Day and the upcoming EarthCare Week, Taggia (now closed) at Kimpton’s FireSky Resort & Spa (now closed), located in the heart of Scottsdale, will offer a special menu featuring a four-course meal of a mix of fresh, local and organic ingredients.

If you have not yet dined at Taggia, I really encourage you to check it out. Executive Chef James Siao is incredibly approachable and avidly supports local farmers and artisans. The property itself is beautiful and a lovely retreat from the city.

The special EarthCare Week menu will be available April 18-25 and will feature four courses for $45 per person. Recently, we were invited out to preview the courses:

  • Insalata | Local Greens, Drake Farms Goat Cheese, Windmill Farms Tomatoes, Baby Beets and Citrus Vinaigrette

    Insalata

Everyone around me praised this delicately delicious salad dressed perfectly with a bright Citrus Vinaigrette (Taggia was kind enough to give their recipe!). The baby beets were tender and delightful with a bite of rich, goat cheese and added a gorgeous color to the salad. A perfect taste of spring!

  • Primi |Schreiners Sweet Sausage, Ramps, Housemade Potato Gnocchi and Wild Mushrooms

    Primi

Although not normally a fan of gnocci, I can honestly say that this was the best I’ve ever had. I loved the sweet & salty sausage and finished every bite on my plate – a truly decadent dish.

  • Entrée |Wild Alaskan Halibut, Controne Beans, Fennel, Windmill Farms Heirloom Tomatoes and Saffron

    Entrée

Though not my absolute favorite dish of the evening (my heart was captivated by the Gnocci!), this dish stood well on its own. As we were seated outside and the evening began to cool, I was comforted by the warmness of flavors used with the Halibut.

  • Dessert | Local Crave Artisanal Cheesecake Ice Cream & Locally-made Wei Citrus Infused Dark Chocolate Torte Drizzled with Local Honey

    Dessert

The Cheesecake Crave Ice Cream was sinful (in such a good way) and received raves among my tablemates. For me, it was the star of the plate only because I have a personal distaste for citrus/chocolate combinations. The texture of the torte was excellent and my dinner guest devoured it almost quicker than I could blink!

The staff was so gracious and overall, the meal was beautiful – and a great way to support green efforts and use of local ingredients.
